advent: the cosmos

Today I read a concept new to me, one which I will ponder – the Cosmic Christ.

[I do not subscribe to our cancel culture in which disagreement causes one to lose their social or professional connections. No ability to thoughtfully consider an opinion different from one’s own, and intelligently discuss will lead to destruction of life and culture as we know it.]

“The historical Jesus was one man, and Christ was not his last name. The Christ includes the whole sweep of creation and history joined with him — and you too. We call this the Cosmic Christ.” When we say we believe in Jesus Christ, both words are essential.

Christmas celebration is not just about waiting for a baby to be born. When we move past seeing Jesus as a “perpetual baby,” we discover a grand historical pivotal point.

Religion that does not move past the baby is not ready to cope with real life. Biblical writings let us know we are to be adult partners with God, free thinkers with free will. We are offered free participation in the love of God through Jesus Christ.

We say, “Come, Christ Jesus” with a passionate new understanding.
