adventures in zooming

I must be one of the last people to learn how to facilitate a zoom call, which is rather ironic as I was one of the first to become a certified web class designer, developer, and facilitator. But, that was another lifetime or two ago.

What inspired me to join the zoomer generation you ask. The university here offers low cost classes to old people, or more politely, seniors, or even more politely, those with life experiences. It is called “Life Long Experiences for the Curious Mind.” The breath of offerings is extensive. And, many of the classes are via zoom.

Overly enthusiastic to stop my mental faculties from further decay, I signed up for three. Then, being intimidated, as it’s been a long time since I taught, and even longer since I took a class, I skipped the first two sessions, an anomaly as I never, or have rarely skipped a class in my life.

Those classes were more academic in nature. However, this last class was a virtual nature tour, one that I felt would be a comfortable way to dip my toe into the milieu of zooming.

After googling “how to” and “pitfalls,” I found the all important muting and stopping my visage from appearing. My much younger sister agreed to a trial run, which turned out to be fun, and we will do it again, next time adding my brother so I can learn how to facilitate multiple classmates.

Here’s to all of you also providing stimulation to your brain this week.
