… a cactus
Apparently new neighborhood board members have become over-zealous, strictly enforcing the “plants cannot be higher than each residents’ short front wall” rule.
To the extent of forcing my neighbor to cut down a beautiful, very old cactus. Several days later, viewing the results of the massacre, tears still form in my eyes.

So, here’s to you most noble plant, sacrificing your life in the name of socialistic continuity. You are not forgotten. May you rise to bloom again another day.

Oh, look, there’s hope.
May new growth appear from what remains.
[Venting my frustration with wordpress- they keep changing the location of editing features. I give up for today, and apologize for the less than stellar appearance.]
