advent: joy

This week, lighting the pink candle, representing Joy.

Multiple google searches reveal:
> Joy is an inner feeling, while happiness is an outward expression. Joy endures hardship and trials, believing in their meaning or purpose. You may pursue happiness, but you choose Joy.

> Multiple poems about Joy, none of which struck my fancy.

> At least 20 movies about Joy.

> 59 songs with Joy in the title including:
– Three Dog Night’s Joy to the World [a blast from my past]
Jeremiah was a bullfrog
Was a good friend of mine….

Singin’ joy to the world
All the boys and girls now
Joy to the fishes in the deep blue sea
Joy to you and me

> The traditional carol, Joy to the World, penned by Isaac Watts
Joy to the world, the Lord is come
Let Earth receive her King
Let every heart prepare Him room
And Heaven and nature sing
And Heaven and nature sing
And Heaven, and Heaven, and nature sing

> Then I read, “The symbol for Joy is light.”  Yes, a connection, as my year-long quest, filling a journal with writings referencing light (see previous blogs), comes to a close.

May you take some time during this busy season to contemplate Joy, maybe pick up a Joy ornament. Here’s a Joy to the World to get you started.
