thanksgiving fades

Returning fall decor to its designated box, I stop and again read through Mary Englebreit’s Little Book of Thanks (2021), captivated by her unique, distinctive illustrations next to the quotes she has chosen. Here are a few for you to stop and ponder:

“I am thankful for each and every day” (Chuck Berry)

“Tis the greatest wealth to live with little” (Thomas Creech)

“Consider what is small as great, and a few as many” (Lao-Tzu)

“What seem to us bitter trials are often blessings in disguise” (Oscar Wilde)

“When I started counting my blessings, my whole life turned around” (Willie Nelson)

“Enjoy the little things, for one day you may look back and realize they were the big things” (Robert Brault)

“This is a wonderful day. I’ve never seen this one before” (Maya Angelou)

“When eating bamboo sprouts, remember the one who planted them” (Chinese Proverb)

Perhaps the most poignant, from Helen Keller, “Everything has its wonders, even darkness and silence, and I learn, whatever state I may be in, to be content.”

Thank you to my followers who have become my friends. “I’m so thankful for friendship. It beautifies life so much” (LM Montgomery)

And finally, to help you sleep better tonight, “Let your last thinks all be thanks” (W.H. Auden).
