I always thought I would change the world, until not too long ago when reality set in, and I haven’t.
I woke up to the idea that small changes can always happen, and thus, my small way to make the world a better place is to remain calm and smile, especially for retail check-out clerks when others in line are displaying anxiety.
The effect is a two-way street benefiting me as well as others, as scientists point out:
– Smiling offers a mood boost
– Our bodies release cortisol and endorphins, providing many health benefits
– Reduces blood pressure
– Increases endurance
– Reduces pain
– Reduces stress
– Strengthens the immune system
“For me, human beings ability to smile is one of our most beautiful characteristics” (The Dalai Lama)
