if you can keep it

In the words of Benjamin Franklin, we have a republic, if we can keep it.

I’ve traveled throughout much of this country and I have lived in multiple locations throughout. Today I am choosing to reflect on the beauty of her geographic features, unique natural beauty, and the beautiful diversity of our people.

I’m singing with Ray Charles:

Oh beautiful for spacious skies
For amber waves of grain
For purple mountain majesties
Above the fruited plain

America, America, God shed his grace on thee
And crown thy good with brotherhood
From sea to shining sea

Oh beautiful for patriot dream
That sees beyond the years
Thine alabaster cities gleam
Undimmed by human tear
s

America, America, God mend thine every flaw
Confirm they soul in self-control
Thy liberty in law
